影片根据1995到2000年年法国独立电视台télé boral的真实故事所改编。当时，电视已经走进了千家万户，最为最主流和最具影响力的传播方式。影片的主人公Jean-Lou、Yasmina、Victor、Clara和Adonis创立的不仅仅是自己的电视台，而且引发了一场革命。
当手提式摄影机代替了摄像机，一切便开始了。于是所有人都能做电视节目。让-路、雅斯敏娜、维克多、阿多尼斯和其他人已不满足于只创建自己的电视台，他们主要是想来场彻底改革。就这样极左电视诞生了，同时被大电视台认为因循守旧及反动的无政府主义及煽动挑衅。五年海盗式的放送各种大混乱、大规模的游行示威，和混乱爱情的纵酒寻欢的晚会……这是令我着魔的一段生命插曲。
