◎简 介
俄美两国策划一起反恐行动，派出特种部队擒获了掌握核武器的哈萨克王国独裁者伊万•雷迪克将军（Jurgen Prochnow 饰）。数周后的庆功宴上，曾为越战老兵的美国总统詹姆斯•马舍尔（哈里森•福特Harrison Ford 饰）针对恐怖分子和独裁政权发表了强硬而精彩的演说。莫斯科之旅圆满结束，总统一家及其政要乘空军一号返回美国，同行的还有艾格（加里•奥德曼 Gary Oldman 饰）带队的俄罗斯媒体工作人员。
安全人员百密一疏，艾格的真实身份是效忠于雷迪克将军的恐怖分子。飞机起飞后，艾格和同伴们劫持飞机，绑架美国政要及总统家人，只有詹姆斯侥幸逃脱。恐怖分子要求俄美释放雷迪克将军，而藏身空军一号中的詹姆斯则和这群匪徒展开殊死决斗……

◎幕后揭秘
在这部出自动作片导演沃尔夫冈·彼德森之手的《空军一号》中，美国总统一改发号施令的幕后决策者形象，而是成为置身反恐前线的动作英雄。当初涉影坛的安德鲁·W·马洛带着他的剧本找到灯塔电影公司制作人乔纳森·塞斯泰克时，后者立即发现《空军一号》正是他一直在苦苦寻找的佳作。塞斯泰克说：“我们需要一部非比寻常的动作片，现在的动作特效已经发挥至极，而大量的伤亡人数也早已不足为奇，只有让身处权利之巅的国家元首化身动作英雄才能真正出奇制胜。”
影片于1996年9月16日在俄亥俄州首府哥伦布市开拍，剧组选择用当地的里肯巴赫（Rickenbacher）国民警卫队空军基地替代了片中的德国拉姆斯泰因机场，并在那里完成了一系列复杂而惊险的空中特技。导演彼德森回忆说：“那是我拍过的最难的一场戏，除了一架扮作空军一号的波音747和六架护航的F－15之外，我们还要在飞机尝试着陆时动用数十架直升机以及大量的军队和车辆，而且一切都在移动当中。”影片拍摄得到了美国军方各部门和俄亥俄州及加州国民警卫队的大力协助，军方提供的技术顾问和装备有效提升了影片情节的可信度。
空军准将朗·斯康耶斯（Ron Sconyers）说：“曾有很多好莱坞影人请求我们协助拍摄，可我们必须谨慎审查，因为影片的可靠性至关重要，而在拍摄《空军一号》时，是我们主动要求提供空军支持，因为这部电影已经获得了官方认可，我们允许制片方使用好莱坞电影中难得一见的空军基地和装备。”出现在片中的空军装备包括佛罗里达恩格林空军基地的六架F－15战斗机，赫伯特空军基地的一架MC－130E特种作战运输机、加州特拉维斯空军基地的一架C－5A运输机、新泽西麦奎尔空军基地的一架C－141运输机、俄亥俄和加州国民警卫队的两架“黑鹰”直升机和两架C－130运输机。仅维护和操作这些装备就需要250人。
片中空军一号的内景全部在索尼电影公司的15号摄影棚拍摄完成，该摄影棚是美国最大的摄影棚，1939年的《绿野仙踪》就曾在此搭景拍摄。虽然空军一号的内景出自全尺寸布景，可有限的空间仍构成了不小的挑战。哈里森·福特回忆说：“为避免多次重复拍摄，摄影部门必须开动脑筋改造摄影器材。感谢沃尔夫冈和我们的摄影指导迈克尔·包豪斯，因为本片的舱内场景完成得非常出色。我最近有幸看到了沃尔夫冈重新剪辑的《从海底出发》，可以看出他能够用新颖而有趣的手法控制紧张悬念，并将其归结到人类行为。”
在美国总统赴怀俄明州度假期间，福特、彼德森和艺术指导威廉·山德尔曾获准参观真正的空军一号。不过出于安全原因，空军不允许他们拍照，参观区域也受到了限制。山德尔说：“片中747的三层结构全部按真实尺寸建造，当时我们参照的是图纸，包括我们得到的官方照片和报纸及杂志上能找的的所有公开照片。让人出乎意料的是，我们在设计工作开始不久便有幸登上真正的空军一号，这简直是天赐良机！”
