改編自名著《米蘭夫人》。家庭教師白瑞美（金玫）受王家所聘，來到後即感覺王宅氣氛詭異。王家主人王義明（柯俊雄）自愛妻疑似和人私通雙雙死在海裡之後，便和朋友連嘉文（郭夜人）之妻春鶯（丁香）交往親密，對女兒淑媛（小惠）不理不睬。淑媛因得不到父愛，一開始對瑞美很不友善，而管家的女兒阿蘭（戴佩珊）更是行蹤鬼祟，只有王家友人高鳳嬌（柳青）、高玉琨（歐威）兄妹對瑞美示好。瑞美來後不到一個月，王家即接二連三的發生鬧鬼事件。瑞美也因義明對淑媛的態度而起爭執。本來執意離去的瑞美，不料義明被瑞美的態度所感動，一改往日的行徑，王家開始有了歡笑。某日，王家開舞會，連嘉文夫婦也在邀約之列，不幸翌日竟接到連嘉文被人毒殺的噩耗，義明、春鶯遂被警方約談。此時瑞美也發現王妻的日記，內容顯示出王妻的死因令人懷疑；同時也發現只要跟義明交往親密的女人，都會莫名其妙的被陷害。之後，義明以散心為由，邀請瑞美攜淑媛、阿蘭到別墅遊玩。淑媛不慎受傷，義明與瑞美為照顧淑媛，兩人感情更進一步，決定結婚。就在結婚典禮的前夕，瑞美發現了真正殺死王妻的兇手，但她卻被兇手困在地窖裡，同時也在地窖中發現了王妻的屍體…
