西碧勒（维吉妮·艾菲拉 Virginie Efira 饰）曾经是一名心理医生，却因为实在是太过于热爱文学创作，而最终选择放弃做医生，一心扑到了写小说上。一次偶然中，西碧勒邂逅了名为玛格特（阿黛尔·艾克萨勒霍布洛斯 Adèle Exarchopoulos 饰）的女子，玛格特是一名女演员，正身处于情感纠纷之中无法自拔。
玛格特参演了一部电影，却怀上了男主演伊戈尔（加斯帕德·尤利尔 Gaspard Ulliel 饰）的孩子，而伊戈尔和这部戏的导演艾迪斯（劳尔·卡拉米 Laure Calamy 饰）是情侣关系。这段复杂的三角恋让玛格特痛苦无比，对西碧勒掏心掏肺，而西碧勒则偷偷录下了两人的谈话，作为创作小说的灵感。
