西班牙新锐导演阿法洛．格拉，隻身前往爪哇岛东部，陪伴号称「世界上最危险工作」的硫磺矿工，以长达五年的纪录片田野为底，和当地素人一同拿起摄影机，完成一部探索人性的作品，也让影像本身成为论证，挑战电影创作的实验性与更多可能。导演格拉绝妙并置了三段平行宇宙，三度轮迴，从妻子的离别为起点、母亲的葬礼为终点，一次次哀歌重唱，将爪哇岛现代史化作一齣宿命轮迴大戏，长镜头捕捉硫磺氤氲与矿工们的容颜。
